This is the quintessential ikon depicting pastoral care. Our Lord so simply tells us what our life’s aim should be:
“Be ye as little children”
And to such children of all ages Our Lord is quick to minister.
For the Orthodox pastoral caregiver this ikon models two things for us: first, how we should be in relation to Christ. Second, how we should be in relation to those under our care.
